Why maintenance matters more in South Florida
A system in Broward County runs most of the year, often for hours at a stretch. While it cools, it pulls a surprising amount of water out of the air, and all of that water has to leave through the condensate drain. Warm, wet and dark, that drain is where biological slime grows. Part of it is often Zoogloea, a bacteria that forms a sticky film inside drain lines, mixed with dust, mold and algae. Left alone, it narrows the line until the pan overflows or the float switch shuts the system off on a hot afternoon. That's why both visits include a drain flush and a drain treatment, not just a look.
Long runtimes wear the electrical side too. Capacitors drift out of spec, contactors pit and burn, and connections loosen in attic and garage heat. Those are inexpensive parts to replace on a scheduled visit and an unpleasant surprise in August.
Twice a year is about what it takes here to catch those slow failures before they become a no-cooling call. How drain lines clog, and what we do about it.

Membership questions
Is AC maintenance really necessary in South Florida?
It matters more here than in most places. Systems run most of the year and remove a lot of water from the air, so drain lines clog and coils get dirty faster. Maintenance catches those slow problems before they become a leak or a breakdown on a hot day.
How is the Protection Plan billed?
Once a year. The first system is $299 per year, and each additional system is $149 per year. Homes and light commercial properties can both join.
Do members pay the diagnostic fee?
Members get a discounted diagnostic fee. Without the plan, it's a free service call when you go ahead with the repair. Members also get up to 15% off repairs and pay no after-hours fees.
